AFAS Experience Center

CEO Bas van der Veldt says that “The head office is an experience in the broadest sense of the word.” In fact, only 20 per cent of the building is intended for employees. The rest of the building consists of a demo room, sports complex, event location, restaurant, courtyard, atrium and auditoriums.

The new centre also features energy-efficient LED lighting, solar control glazing and a sustainable climate system. In addition, the roofs are equipped with solar panels and the roof of the company restaurant is equipped with integrated solar cells.

AFAS is a Dutch family-owned company that develops software products for businesses and consumers. In November 2020, they relocated to a new headquarters to be not only a working space for employees, but an experience centre for businesses across The Netherlands: Welcome to the AFAS Experience Center.

At the core of the experience center is sustainability and we were approached to offer a solution. In the new Atrium, between the AFAS office building and the public theatre our kinetic energy floors have been installed (pictured) with an infinity design overlay and modern polygon shape. There is an energy meter visible where visitors can see the number of calories they have burned, how much energy their footsteps have been generating, and how much has been converted into electricity.
