In a residential area in Zeist, The Netherlands, we installed kinetic energy tiles in a football pitch, turning it into a WiFi Hotspot Power Harvester.
Introduction
Kerckebosch in Zeist is a paragon of sustainable living in The Netherlands. For the central square of the area studio wUrck architects designed a matching football pitch filled with our Sustainable Energy tiles, where youngsters generate their own power while playing soccer.
Project Description
For this project we worked together with architectural studio wUrck. We installed 9 energy tiles throughout the football pitch, turning it into a WiFi Hotspot Power Harvester. In 30 minutes young kids generate enough power on the Sustainable Energy Floor tiles to fully charge 3 smartphone batteries – with a game of panna.
Next to our energy floor in the football pitch, energy generating WeWatt bikes, Plant-E and special solar flowers were installed at the central square
