Introducing the Kinetic Energy Floor!

February 27, 2023

The world is rapidly changing, and so are the possibilities for energy production. Although Energy Floors have been using this technology since 2008, it is getting more and more popular today: Introducing the Kinetic Energy Floor: a revolutionary, sustainable source of electricity that harnesses the power of movement to generate electricity. By converting the kinetic energy created by everyday activities into usable electricity, the floor is an example of how to make smart use of available and sustainable energy sources

What is Kinetic Energy?

Kinetic energy is a form of energy that is associated with the motion of an object. It can be thought of as the energy that an object has due to its movement or motion.

This type of energy increases as the speed of an object increases, and it decreases when the speed slows down. When two objects come into contact, kinetic energy can also be transferred from one object to another. The amount of kinetic energy present depends on both velocity and mass; thus, heavier objects require more force to move at a given speed than lighter ones do.

How this Kinetic Energy is used from the floor?

Generating kinetic energy from a kinetic floor tile is an innovative way to capture and store renewable energy. This technology uses the energy created by people moving on the tile, such as walking ,dancing or jumping and captures it in a battery-like device. In each tile there is an electromechanical mechanism. They are designed to slightly flex when pedestrians are stepping on them. With the help of the electromechanical system, the vertical movement of a footstep is transformed into a rotating movement. This then drives a generator which leads to an energy output of up to 35 watt per module of sustained output.

Kinetic Energy is in our everyday life

Kinetic energy is a type of energy that is all around us. It can be seen in the motion of objects, and it’s created when an object changes its speed or direction. There are a variety of ways kinetic energy is used in our everyday lives, from powering vehicles to creating electricity.

In transportation, kinetic energy is the force behind locomotives and cars that help us get from one place to another. In addition, planes and boats also use kinetic energy by relying on engines to propel them forward. Furthermore, we can also harness the power of wind turbines to create electricity by using air currents and wind to spin blades which then turn generators that produce electrical power.

The potential for kinetic energy also exists in sports such as baseball, tennis and golf where athletes use their physical movements to propel balls or other objects.

How much energy can a Kinetic Energy Floor produce?

One of the options provided by EnergyFloors is “The Dancer” . This type of dancing floor is composed of different modules which, when stepped on, jumped on or danced on, triggers an electro-mechanical mechanism that creates between 25-35W of energy. The produced energy can then be transformed into electricity in order to light up the LEDs installed on the floor or power any other connected devices.

How much Kinetic Energy is needed to charge a mobile phone?

Mobile phones are an integral part of everyday life, and we’re increasingly reliant on them for communication and entertainment. But have you ever wondered how much energy it takes to charge your phone?

The amount of energy required to charge a mobile phone depends on the type of phone you have, its capacity, the battery size, and the charger being used. Generally speaking, most modern smartphones need around 10-15 watt hours (Wh) per charging session. This means that a typical 3000 mAh battery will take approximately 2 hours to fully recharge if it connected to a kinetic Energy Floor tile.

When considering the environmental impact of our daily activities, understanding how much energy is required to charge our devices can help us make more informed choices about our habits and lifestyle practices.

Where can I buy a Kinetic Energy Floor

The Kinetic Energy Floor can be either rented or purchased. There are different standard solutions and we offer custom kinetic floor solutions that fit your needs.

Here is an example of one of the largest Kinetic Floors we built for Coldplay.  Here is another example of a smaller project we did for Heineken.

In conclusion, kinetic energy floors offer numerous benefits to businesses, events, and cities, including cost savings on energy bills and increased sustainability. Furthermore, they are safe and reliable, providing an efficient way of using the energy generated from movement. As kinetic energy technology continues to evolve, there is potential for even more applications in the future. The use of kinetic energy floors has been growing in popularity as a result of its multiple advantages, making it an attractive option for many institutions.
